What is this? Bostini Cream Pie, of course...not to be confused with Boston cream pie. The bottom layer is a vanilla custard, topped with an orange chiffon cake, then topped with a chocolate ganache. I loved the custard, I could eat it by itself. The cake was good, but the only mistake that I made was that I used salted butter with the chocolate, which made the whole dessert a little salty. Next time I will definitely use unsalted butter! This month was hosted my Mary at Alpineberry, you can find this recipe here.
They look great all piled up like that. I bet they were delicious
ReplyDeleteThey look great!! I'm glad I don't normally keep salted butter in the fridge, or I might have made the same mistake!!
ReplyDeleteDo you still have some of those Bostinis left? We do and I'm enjoying every bite, but I might not be if I have to eat the remaining 5. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, the famous salted butter in the chocolate sauce problem! Oh well, your bostinis look great and anytime there's custard around it's hard to be too disappointed.
ReplyDeleteLooks good, salted butter and all.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations April. Beauteous Bostini! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll just pull up a chair and eat those for you! Well done!
ReplyDeletehehe I'm with you.. I could eat them all myself too. But that would be rude, right? *grin*
ReplyDeleteA lovely post, April!!
Can't wait for November's challenge. =)
xoxo
I never buy salted butter, but now I am wondering how the glaze tasted with it. The reason is that I brought back from Italy a bar of dark chocolate with salt. Anyway, your bostinis look lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious. Salty chocolate and all.
ReplyDeleteSalt and chocolate isn't completely unusual - chocolate covered pretzels are pretty good!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the custard was delicious all by itself! Beautiful Bostinis!
ReplyDeleteGreat job April! They look terrific and I can't tell that you used salted butter in the glaze at all ;) I've made that mistake in the past on other pastries... it's a "doh!" moment.
ReplyDelete-jen at use real butter
April..your chocolate topping is the bomb!
ReplyDeleteI loved the custard too! I used salted butter and seem to be the only one that didn't find it too salty... but maybe I'm just used to it.
ReplyDelete299 is pretty amazing isn't it! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI may have used salted butter as well. I had 2 sticks on the counter and both were used. It did seem slightly salty?? lol
ReplyDeleteGreat job, they look delish!
That chocolate sauce may hav been a bit salty, but it sure looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteThese still look great, oops salted butter.
ReplyDeleteSalted butter's a bummer, but it looks so nice and thick and yummy! And I'm with you on the custard. I could eat every component of this dessert alone and be in heaven!
ReplyDeleteEmm...I just want to reach out and grab those and eat it right now. Looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour bostini's look heavenly in their chocolate sauce, even if it was a bit salted. I wouldn't say no to a desert with that much chocolate involved :)
ReplyDeleteYum! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLeslie at definitely not martha
Looking good! Too bad about the salted butter...but better salted butter than no butter ;)
ReplyDeleteHoly mother of all chocolate! If my spoon could reach into the computer I would be in heaven!(i don't even care that it's salted chocolate)Great looking bostini's.
ReplyDeleteMmmm chocolate! =9
ReplyDeleteI never buy salted butter too, like Simona... I hope was eatable your dessert! jeje! :)

Wow that's alot of chocolate! Yum!
ReplyDeleteYup, the custard sure is good and I love how much chocolate you used! Great job on the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on my kitchen. Looking at your bostini makes me want to go down to the basement and see if I have one left to eat. Bien fait.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!!
ReplyDeleteWow - they look so cute piled up in those little bowls! Where did I leave my spoon.......?
ReplyDeleteApril great job and even if you used salted butter. I'd still help you eat those Bostinis!
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious! Great job.
ReplyDeleteActually, I used salted butter but I didn't notice a salty taste... Unless it's because I like eating salty foods... Or something!
Thanks for the kind comments you left on my blog. I really appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteYour bostinis look great! :)

Nice job on your Bostinis. My favorite part of this challenge has been looking at how everyone has presented their dessert!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of your Bostini Cream Pies! The way you have them in the cute little dishes brings out how rich the dessert actually is! Very pretty! =D
ReplyDeleteShandy (Pastry Heaven)
Great Bostinis! Well done =)
ReplyDeleteLook great! oops for the salted butter, it is an acquired taste! Great job on your challenge!!
ReplyDeleteYour bostinis look like cute little ice-cream sundaes. I didn't realize it was 299 members. Wow. I used salted butter with my chocolate too and it wasn't as good as it could have been. Yours look great. Wendy
ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised when I learn something like this. It seems so unimportant and small a detail salted or unsalted and then you find out it changes everything. Your Bostini look good.
ReplyDeleteLove the way your Bostini looks -- delicious! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeletePaz
Great job on you challenge!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful!
xoxo
The chocolate coating makes your bostinis look wonderful. Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent job on your challenge...even with the salted butter.
ReplyDeletewow, this looks yummy! thanks for the comment on my mousse, if you only have powdered thats fine, its about 3 teaspoons of powdered to every 6 sheets. hope this helps :)
ReplyDeleteI made a recipe similar to this (albeit not as pretty) awhile ago except I used carob in place of chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI used carob from Holy Food Imports and I found it to be virtually as good as chocolate.
